The eccentric little RV park called Low Key Hideaway right within Cedar Key is the perfect couples getaway. Rightfully named Low Key Hideaway, this park sits in the historic small town of Cedar Key and offers a laid back alternative to many other RV parks along the Gulf Coast. 

Nearby attractions include kayaking and great fishing spots. Cedar Keys is also known for its many nature reserves and some of the best clam spots in the state! The best times to visit the area are late Spring and Fall for ideal weather.

Located just 8.7 miles from the heart of Cedar Key, this park offers a unique experience into the history of Florida. At this park you can partake in scenic kayaking or fish from the pier but the main attraction that brings in thousands of visitors a year is the ancient shell mounds, some measuring up to 20 feet high. Thousands of years ago Native tribes would gather at these archaeological sites.  A perfect park for all the history buffs out there!

Shell Mound Campground has 26 partial hook-up sites with water and electric. They also offer “primitive” sites at a discounted price for adventurers off the beaten path. While it is a campground and not a resort, amenities are minimal but you will have access to showers, bathrooms, a boat ramp, and picnic tables. This is a great spot for a weekend visit or camping trip to immerse yourself in Florida history.

This cozy little park is located in Otter Creek which is just 20 miles up Florida State Road 24 from Cedar Key. This park caters to family vacationers and locals alike and being just a 22 minute drive to the gulf coast, there are numerous family activities in the area. This park makes for a great landing spot for day trips to the Cedar Key island restaurants or the nature walks of the Cedar Key State Reserve.

At Shady Oaks Campground you’ll find 13 full hook-up sites with 30 amp services. Sites are on dirt or grass but offer spacious areas with pull-through access.  A bonus to this park is that sites can accommodate big rig RVs! Strawberry Fields For RV’ers is nestled in Chiefland, just 30 miles from Cedar Key downtown. Family-owned and operated, this park was opened a couple years ago and continues to improve and grow. Chielfland is centrally located to both Cedar Keys and the Atlantic Ocean with much to do for vacationers in between.

The popular Manatee Spring is a historic location which is hailed for its crystal clear waters and is just 6 miles from the park. There is also a renowned under-water cave nearby at the Catfish Hotel which brings in thousands of scuba divers each year!
