2007 Chevy short school bus

I purchased this bus 6 years ago for our active family.

Initial modifications were leather Mercedes sprinter seats with a one vinyl seat with built in 5 point harness.

I also added the Dometic Brisk 9K AC unit powered by a Xantrex 2000W sign wave inverter with a second alternator that produces 700 DC amps at idle.

I installed a smart soft start device in the AC so it can run on a 15A 120V supply. With the addition of the external 30amp RV plug, the bus can be plugged into shore power or run by a Honda 3000 generator and be fully functional while the engine is off.

The Xantrex inverter is also a battery charger and power management system that can be expanded.

There are two X2 AGM batteries on board that dual function as starter batteries but can also deep cycle.

An AC plug in the rear allows you to run small appliances. We have made breakfast on road trips more than a few times in this bus.

Recently, during a power outage I back fed power into my house and ran 3 refrigerators, a chest freezer, a propane water heater, and enough lights to feel normal.

This bus is unique in that it has a late 2007 Duramax diesel engine. This engine has a DPF and EGR but not DEF. It has also been de-tuned to run less aggressively. This improves mileage and overall length of life. While the engine is at nearly 200K miles, this engine and transmission are rated for 400K plus with basic maintenance.

Intercooler and Radiator replaced in the last two years due to road hazard damage. All glow plugs have been replaced. Just serviced the transmission. New front tires. I added on the tow package with a 7 pin break controller. Tows very well.

Seats 14 total with the added copilot seat. The copilot seat is a fold down center console that is forward backward adjustable. Replaced the rearview mirror with a forward/rear looking camera that records events.

There is also a 2 drawer cabinet in the rear with cargo tie towns for gear. One of the drawers is cut to fit a Dometic self contained toilet and sits on 200lb rated locking rails.

Long road trips are made easier with the upgraded projector headlights that provide amazing visibility at night.

The electric door opener was recently replaced and functions smoothly with both an internal and external switch.

Our family has enjoyed a lot of good times in this vehicle. Our older children are now moving out and we are down sizing. Looking for an adventurous spirit to take this bus on its next journey.
