1993 International Bear the Bus for Sale
-1993 International DT466 Skoolie for Sale-
60K
Bear-the-Bus is for sale!
I purchased this fully-converted bus in the spring of ‘22 in part because I have always dreamed of owning a Skoolie, but more practically, because I needed a creative solution to high housing costs following a divorce. I have lived in Bear in the high mountain desert of NM in all temperatures & conditions & after several adventures together & a lot of time “caving” (healing) in his/this cozy space, I am now ready to move into the next chapter of my life & connect Bear to whomever may be his lucky new owner/s.
I bought Bear for 59K from the California man who built & named him. He is a licensed Electrician & Contractor (that felt like a needle-in-the-haystack find to me, not being a DIYer myself!) who poured his heart & soul into the building of Bear. His engine was serviced just prior to purchase & in the fall of ‘22, a good friend of mine who is a veteran diesel mechanic gave him the full once-over & pronounced him “steady & sound”. He’s been on a few driving adventures (including from CA to NM) & proved road-worthy, but has served primarily as an unconventional (parked) home to me. Since obtaining him I have had him painted (he still wore his yellow school bus jacket before that) & I’ve purchased a second brand new lithium battery, a new bus battery, & an onboard Hisense AC unit. This fall he was rewired for a 50-amp RV plug-in & this winter I had a new on-demand Excel hot water system installed. He is titled as an RV (a BIG plus & something that will convert easily, state to state) & I currently have him covered under Good Sam insurance. He is move-in &/or adventure ready, although his new owner/s will want to consider new tires for him if you plan to take him out on the road for extended touring.
Here are his specs:

I am a 40 min drive from the Albuquerque International airport & will happily transport any potential buyers to/from the bus for showing. I am requesting a $500 “interest deposit” from potential buyers to hold the bus for 10 days if you think you may want Bear to be yours. If you travel out in that timeframe & decide to buy, that amount will be deducted from our final selling price. If you do not buy, I will refund you half this deposit. I am motivated to sell & will periodically lower my asking price so DO come back & visit Bear again!
