Description
RARE, VINTAGE and GORGEOUS 1989 Crown SuperCoach bus ready to build out! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. ๐ Iโm so sad to have to sell it, but we need the money for our bakery buildout (The Beach Bum Bakery in Kellogg, Idaho). The real value is in the beauty, rareness and vintageness of it!
This bus has been my baby since 2020. A lot of blood, sweat and tears have been put into this bus to get it to where it is now. We gutted it, cleaned it, painted it, put walls up, circuits, outlets and lights in. I wanted it to be our home on wheels or an event bus, so I kept it with an open floor plan. The next thing we were going to do is put the floor down, but now you can!ย
Yes, it was built in 1989. As far as I understand Crown Coach made this design for decades. They stopped making this bus in 1989. I couldnโt upload anymore pictures, but Iโm happy to send more pictures and videos to serious inquires.

With carpet and some cool antique furniture it would make an absolutely beautiful Bridal Event Bus! 2 years ago it made it’s debut at a Bridal Event Show for brides to check out and it was the talk of the town! It has potential to be an income generator! That said, it has a beautiful start to be a vintage skoolie! :-)ย
Answering a few regular questions:
1. Is this registered as an RV or still registered as a commercial vehicle or something else?
In our state (Idaho) a bus is not considered an โRVโ until it has a certain number of RV systems on board such as toilet, oven, beds, etc.
2. The listing says class A. Does this require a class A license to drive non commercially or can it be driven with a standard class C license? (I know rules differ state to state but I know conversions can be considered RVโs rather than commercial when all the indicators of it once being commercial are covered – such as what youโve done.
โClass Aโ in the ad is referring to the type of RV, not to the type of driverโs license required. That just means that it is a larger size and has a bus or truck chassis (bus in this case). As you said, driverโs license requirements for RVโs (or non-commercial buses) vary from state to state. As you investigate this, be aware that this bus has air brakes and has a GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of over 26,000 lbs.
Yes.
- The windshield wipers that are on it don’t work. They are air driven and the wiper motor needs replaced.
- There are some air leaks (such as in the windshield wiper system) that should be addressed at some point.
- ย In certain operations that involve many consecutive pushes on the brake pedal while the engine is only at idle speed (such as backing the bus into our driveway) the air brake system can run low on air which causes the โLow Airโ alarm to come on and then you have to wait for the air to build back up before you can continue. I had a diesel mechanic look at it and he was thinking the compressor system might have an issue that prevented it from being able to keep up. We werenโt able to get a definitive diagnosis from that mechanic though.
- We have been working to eliminate water leaks into the cabin due to wanting to keep the original windows operational. The โguttersโ we put on it seem to have eliminated all the bad ones as water was running down the windows and then out onto the floor in a few places. Now there are only a couple of small leaks at the roof hatches and an intermittent small drip at a fixed window. There is one other leak where water from a gap in the stock gutter runs down the door and some comes in underneath. I have a solution in mind for this but havenโt gotten it done yet.
- One of the roof hatches has a broken hinge and will need to be secured before transporting the bus. Both of the roof hatches probably should be replaced eventually.
- The heater/defroster motor has a noisy fan. I do have another motor and fan (which will be included) but havenโt gotten around to working on that yet.
4. This would be converted in to a home conversion so I want to know how reliable it is transmission / travel wise.
Weโve actually only put a couple hundred miles on it ourselves. It was driven to us by the previous owner from southern California. It made it with no problems except replacing a tire. We did have some work done on it to address an issue with excessive black smoke in the exhaust. We had all the fuel injectors replaced which took care of that problem. There are no transmission problems that we know of.
5. Finally, your post says cash โฆ I donโt think my bank allows that much withdrawn as cash unless the person itโs going to is present. Do you take certified check – such as a check the bank would pay to you directly or any other form of payment?
As long as you are legit we could work that out. I can call my bank and see what the best way would be to do that. Perhaps your bank could wire it to my bank. I’ll have to check.
Looking forward to my baby going to a good home! Located near Wallace, Idaho. You come to get. Price negotiable.
