Description

Chuck Cassidy Custom Off-Grid Skoolie | 40ft 2004 Bluebird All-American

Chuck Cassidy builds are the gold standard in the skoolie world — he no longer takes on new builds, making existing ones increasingly rare. This is one of his best. He said so himself: ”one of the most functional builds I’ve ever made.” There’s a full YouTube walkthrough by Chuck himself linked below — watch it and you’ll understand the ask.
The short version of what makes this bus special:
The floor plan was designed from scratch by the original owner — an architect — which is why every inch works. 16-inch roof raise, mid-bus entry door that opens the entire front of the bus to living space, three pocket doors, Baltic birch cabinetry throughout with no visible hardware, Richlite countertops, real ceramic tile, custom blackout curtains. It looks and feels like a high-end loft, not a converted bus.
Built for a family of 4. Fully off-grid capable.
  • Fresh Cummins 8.3L remanufactured engine (August 2025, $14K) — this bus is mechanically ready to go
  • Allison MD 3066 6-speed transmission
  • 175K miles
  • 3,200W solar + 10kWh Victron lithium battery bank
  • Wallace Spartan ducted diesel furnace + Pioneer 12K BTU mini-split
  • 100-gal fresh / 100-gal gray / propane tankless water heater
  • Full apartment-size propane range/oven, GE residential fridge
  • Washer/dryer (runs while driving)
  • 4-foot soaking tub
  • Nature’s Head composting toilet
  • Queen master bedroom + bunk room with upper/lower bunks
  • 5-point seatbelts on welded steel frame in front living area
  • Class 5 hitch — towed an SVU all over the place with no problems.
  • WeBoost, Berkey with custom mount, exterior shower, multiple luggage bays
Asking $125K. The engine alone was $14K in August. A new Chuck Cassidy build at this level would cost you significantly more and put you on a wait list. This one is done, dialed, and ready to go.
