Vintage 1948 REO Speed Wagon Bus For Sale
Only 3000 REO school buses were produced between 1915 and 1953, and we have one for sale! This is a classic, old school bus with lots of original parts. It is also an original hippy school bus fully converted into a home, and a one-of-a-kind Skoolie restoration project.
Exterior is green and white with a loft built over the hood and skylights installed. Interior is largely rustic woodworking, including a small bathtub, a propane stove, kitchen, built in storage, closets, and cabinets, sink and woodstove.
Featured in the iconic book, Some Turtles Have Nice Shells, by Roger D. Beck.
Includes original REO bumper, headlights, exterior metal paneling, steering wheel and instrumentation. The bus is 35 feet long (10 Windows, or 42 person configuration).
We do not know anything about the engine or when it was last driven, but it appears to have been converted to propane. Odometer reading is 469,110 miles.
This bus has been parked on rural property and lived in for many years. It currently needs work, including sealing the roof, fixing
interior woodworking, a few broken windows, etc. Located in southwest Oregon.
The bus will need to be moved off the property on a large lowboy trailer. Equipment must be capable of pulling the bus onto an adjacent gravel road.
