Description
We bit off more than we could chew with this project.ย We started with a great used bus, a 1998 GMC B7 with a 6.6L 3116 Caterpillar engine.ย Allison transmission, with 103655 miles.ย A mechanic gave us the thumbs up, after replacing the alternator and removing the governor.
We did start the conversion.
Inside, we removed and discarded the seats, removed and converted a few rusted spots on the flooring (near wheels),ย waterproof/rustproof coating, laid stylish LVP flooring, and started on the master bed frame in the back of the bus.ย The middle of the frame folds up to allow access to the back door.
Outside, we removed the ceiling hatch and sealed it.ย We painted Rust-Oleum green on the rooftop before adding solar panels.ย The eight solar panels are 370W each and attached to railings that are riv-nutted to the roof.
We have a clean title and asking for $15,000 to recoup the cost of materials.ย We did a lot of the dirty work, so you can start with the fun part: designing your layout and building!
