I purchased this bus from Alpine School District in July of 2020 to begin building a camper for my family. I have had two more boys since then and I need more space.

My father, who does finish work on new home construction helped me in this build. I have documented most of the work that we have done.

First, the seats, flooring, ceiling, and walls were removed to bare metal.

Every surface was cleaned and a rust preventer was painted on the flooring. All holes in the flooring from the seats were sealed and waterproofed.

The walls and ceiling were framed and insulated with spray foam insulation. This creates a vapor barrier to prevent condensation. Without a proper vapor barrier, the metal structure will condensate and rust the bus from the inside out.

The original metal ceiling and walls were replaced with wood. This helps with insulation and echo.

Five windows were removed and replaced with sheet metal and spray foam insulation. This helps with insulation and with privacy since most of the canceled windows were on the upper bunk bed.

Subflooring was placed on top of ridged foam insulation on the floor. Then I installed premium waterproof vinyl floors.

There is a sink and functioning gray-water drain.

Electrical has been run throughout the whole bus with outlets near the beds, in the entrance, and in the kitchen. The lighting is all LED mini-can lights. The bathroom space has its own light.

There are six brand new Michelin Heavy Truck tires. This was one of the largest expenses at over $3,000. I have put less than 750 miles on them.

The engine has had modifications done by professional fleet mechanics at Alpine School District to eliminate the typical issues that this particular diesel engine could have had. It is ready to go the distance.

It is registered as an RV, so all of the headaches of dealing with the government in the convoluted and inconsistent system of Skoolie registration have been taken care of.

The kitchen does not have running water, nor do I keep a composting toilet on the bus.

The bus has been used camping for a total of 11 days.
