We purchased this bus in late 2020 from a dealer in Moriarty New Mexico. We chose this bus because of the excellent condition it is in.
This bus has little to no rust on the frame and body. It has a spray foam undercoating with a paint overlaying that. The only rust we found was after removing the seats and sub floor. This rust came from kids wet feet and some leaking windows that saturated the subfloor. The rust was superficial at most and me having 9 years in welding/fabrication I was not concerned at all by the little rust there was. We sanded and buffed the little bit of rust that there was and treated it with a rust preventative and painted over it (pics included).
Mechanically everything is very sound. Prior to purchase the dealer did a complete inspection, oil change and fluid check for us. The only mechanical issue we’ve had was a transmission control module which we had replaced in Albuquerque and we replaced the two old batteries with new and keep them on a battery maintainer when its not in use. The tires have wear on them but we were told from the inspection that they have plenty life left and do not need replacing anytime soon with the limited miles we planned on putting on it. There are several windows that do not close tight and will need to be replaced if you’re wanting to keep them. We were going to replace them with RV style windows.
We have put approximately 1400 miles on it since we purchased. 1000 of those was from Albuquerque NM to Columbia MO (where is currently resides) and it ran 75 MPH with ease and no issues. It has a Cat engine and Allison transmission. Im sorry I don’t know the model of engine and transmission at this time. That information is with the bus that is 5 hours from us currently. I will have that info in less than 2 weeks time and I will update this info then.
It has been kept under an RV cover since we’ve had it. The signage has been removed and the flashing lights and stop sign have been disabled for insurance purposes. We currently hold insurance on it so it can be driven.
In total the seats, subfloor and interior sides have been removed with the floor being treated and painted as stated above.
We really love this bus and planned on a full conversion however we now have another child on the way and realistically wont have time to get to this for several years now.
