1990 Bluebird Skoolie with 12” roof raise, RV windows, generator, propane tank

NEW TOYO STEERER TIRES- 07/23

We have been building and planning this bus to be our full-time home to travel the country and plans look like they may be changing. School buses are built better and safer than RVs and this one is no exception. This is the second bus we have built and the first took us to 48 states and parts of Canada over two years without trouble. We have owned this bus since 2020 and drove it 500 miles back from Lubbock, TX where we bought it. The bus cruises at 55-62 comfortably. The front tires are brand new TOYOs and the rears are in good shape.

As of now, the windows have not been cut out, the wiring hasn’t been run, and the layout is completely open and customizable for how you want to build it.

BODY & 12” ROOF RAISE
This bus is 33 feet from bumper to bumper and was originally a 12-window bus. With the planning and welding of an engineer, we raised the roof 12” and skinned the exterior with 18 gauge sheet metal and steel rivets. As the sheets were installed we used 3M double-sided tape between the hat channel and the sheet. SikaFlex 221 was used between each sheet and each rivet was dipped in Sika before being installed.

The front transition was riveted on the sides and welded on the top and bottom. The horizontal seams were ground down, primed, and covered with Eternabond tape (standard on RV roofs). Sikaflex was used between all overlaps and rivet holes.

RV windows are included in the sale and holes are already framed (not cut out) for the windows provided. If you decide you don’t want all of the windows installed or only a few installed, you have flexibility. The two emergency exits in the roof have been patched with butyl tape, 18ga steel, and sheet metal screws. We will be including any remaining supplies such as Sika, rivets, Eternabond, and butyl tape to make installing the windows less complicated.

The bus body has a host of small scratches and dents not uncommon for the age. The bus was repainted navy blue at some point and all areas that have been altered have been primed as we went. The rear signals and brake lights have been replaced with LEDs.

ENGINE
The bus is powered by a 12-valve, 5.9L Cummins engine with an Alison transmission. The engine has an upgraded P-Pump Injector Pump and an upgraded intercooler. The exhaust has been replaced with a 4” pipe that exits mid-way down the bus on the driver’s side. The batteries were replaced when we purchased the bus in 2020 and have been on a charger regularly to maintain charge. I run the bus once a month to keep everything lubricated and moving.

INTERIOR
The interior has been completely gutted and all seats and flooring have been removed. The floor has typical surface rust and two holes in the floor approximately golf ball sized. Seat holes are still on the floor. The inside of each roof rivet has been coated with a dab of Sika and all unpainted surfaces have been primed.

PARTS INCLUDED
Onan 4000 Watt Generator– Needs a tuneup, but the crankcase turns over and has good oil
1 Steel frame-mountable storage box
7 Insulated RV windows for each window hole
Frame mountable RV propane tank
Misc supplies from roof raise (eternabond, sikaflex, rivets)

The title is clean and clear.

We are asking $10,000 OBO and the bus can be inspected and picked up in Bixby, OK. As we continue working on the bus, the price will go up. Bus is posted in other sale groups.
