2000 Blue Bird Solar Powered Survival Skoolie
Off grid survival bus. Built strong. 2×3 and 1/2″ plywood…Ready to go off grid. water, propane and electric all self contained.
Fully insulated..have pics of construction
Everything works.
Cummings diesel and Allison automatic transmission…. Runs and drives great.
All systems shore or solar power.
24/12 volt solar system and 30 amp service are independent from vehicle 12 v system. 24 volt solar system through transformer to 13.2v internally (2 wire) grounded. Lots of LED lighting and 12 volt charging ports. Plenty of 110 plug ins.
Shore water connection or 12v water pump w/ holding tank (40 gal)
No commode..I preferred to compost away from the living quarters…Although I did leave a space in the shower room for a composting toilet (12 volts in the wall) or system of your choice..
Grizzly wood heat stove. I’ve been living in and finishing the bus since may 2020…3 months off grid..the rest on shore power. I used the wood stove and a little buddy in the back and was comfortable all this past winter in the mountains of Va.
Nice hot shower Electric/gas water heater now but I used a solar water heater with this system with good results..easy hook up w/ pex.
Large storage area in last 6 feet of Bus.
Since installing the solar system it’s run 600 cycles of 10,000 estimated for the Li Ion Tesla batteries. A few times during the off grid I hit the minimum parameter (19.5v) and the system warned of shutdown then shut down….everything reboots after a reset and some sunshine. Managing your power off grid is imperative. System will charge to full (24.4) volts with one day of sun. Panels are adjustable to maximize wintertime sun. I’m far from a solar expert but once I set the parameters and got everything going, it pretty much has run itself. I use a patch chord to energize the 30 amp wiring with the Inverter while off grid. This way I can run my 110 appliances…ie coffee maker, microwave, PC/modem etc. The main thing to keep an eye on with the li ion battery is not to let it charge if it’s below 32 F inside the bus…..there is a battery protect with temperature parameters but in rare cases where I wasn’t heating inside..I disconnected the battery..it can store down to -40F…just not charge..pretty simple really.
Cash only Clean and clear title in hand. Currently located in Ashland City TN…. Call for an appointment 615-574-9467
