2003 Chevy Express Fully Converted 6-Window Bus

After spending three years building and traveling in our exquisitely crafted and meticulously cared-for skoolie, we have decided it is time for us to go our separate ways. This bus is the unicorn you’ve been looking for – a 6-window short bus that’s already registered as a motorhome with a powerful 6.0L gas engine that fits into any parking space and yet feels abundantly spacious inside!

The entire bus (floor, walls, and ceiling) is fully insulated with Havelock sheep’s wool, yet the interior height is still 6’2”, so there is plenty of space to stretch out inside. Equipped with a super robust solar system with a 3.6kWh, 300AH Kilovolt HLX+ cold-weather performance LiFePo4 battery for storage that’s charged by two 375W monocrystalline solar panels on the roof and a 2000W Xantrex Freedom XC inverter for AC (and shore) power will allow you to have plenty of  for all your electrical needs! 

All the windows are tinted and there is a MaxxAir Fan installed near the bedroom for cooling and a 5KW diesel heater installed with Bluetooth capabilities for remote operation that keeps the bus super toasty even in freezing Maine winters. Two skylights, one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom, let in natural light and provide access to the roof deck where you can enjoy watching the sunset or stargazing on a clear summer night, as well as access off-season storage in the mounted Thule box. A collapsable telescoping ladder makes getting on the roof safely and easily.

The bus includes a full kitchen with custom cabinetry and beautifully hand-crafted live-edge and butcher block countertops. A 3-burner Greystone gas range provides easy cooking an ample oven for all of your baking desires. The deep, granite composite farmhouse sink, with running hot and cold water and a multi-functional spray faucet which doubles as an outdoor shower, makes doing dishes and washing off a breeze, all supplied by 48 gallon freshwater tank, accessibly mounted inside under the bed and plumbed to a 27 gallon grey water tank mounted under the bus. There is also a large solar powered (12V) fridge with a small freezer compartment which is plenty big enough to store up to a week’s worth of groceries!

The eating area includes a convertible dinette that seats two comfortably, four cozy, and easily converts into a couch/bench seat. There is also a seatbelt installed in one of the bench seats for passenger safety while driving. There are hand-sewn cushions for the bench seats and customized curtains installed in every window throughout the bus, along with custom Reflectix cut-outs for each window for maximum insulation from heat or cold.

In the bedroom there is a queen-sized super plush organic latex & sheep wool Awara mattress that comes with the bus, as well as three different options for mood lighting, including a small reading lamp mounted on the wall above the bed, two large bookshelves, and built-in cubbies for storing smaller personal items. Under the bed there is a large open space that can either be used as a dog bed or extra storage space, whatever suits your needs!

A 30lb DOT-rated propane tank is securely mounted outside underneath the bus for the gas range and water heater, and in the bathroom there is a composting toilet with plumbing for urine into the gray water tank and a ventilation fan to prevent unwanted odors. For the diesel heater, an in-line 3 gallon tank and auxiliary 5-gallon tank are mounted in an exterior compartment for easy filling and no risk of spilling or off-gaping diesel fumes inside. On the back door of the bus there is a bike rack mounted that can fit up to three bikes, and still open to access the under bead storage. An aftermarket backup camera is mounted above the bike rack to act as a full-time running rear view mirror.

Finally, the bus comes with tons of storage space in the form of dozens of drawers, a large, two-drawer pull-out pantry, shelves, cabinets, and a huge amount of “garage” space under the bed with two rear doors for easy access. There is also a ⁠full closet with a hanging rod and five drawers for storing all your clothes and other personal belongings

Connect to the Alpine iLX-W650 Bluetooth radio with four surround-sound speakers in the cockpit, kitchen, and bedroom and rock out while you roll down the open road and live the life of freedom you’ve been dreaming of (School Bus Driver, by Trampled by Turtles is the ultimate theme song). Alternatively, park it on your land for an easy and lucrative, rentable dwelling (we have had great success renting it out through AirBnb and Hipcamp when not living in it).
