1986 GMC Bluebird School Bus

I’m 6ft and can stand centrally in the bus with about 2″ of space between my head and ceiling. the roof curves over towards the windows so can’t stand completely upright to the sides of the bus.

The title states Unladen Weight is 13840lbs and the chassis plate states GVWR is 23660lbss

Drives great, really nice bud to drive.

We bought the bus with every intention of converting it in to a Motorhome and travelling in it but we’ve just been too busy and not had the time to do it. our loss is someone else’s gain. Would make a great project for someone.

All the seats have been removed apart from a pair of front ones. Comes with spare captains seats. Starts first time every time with no issues.

The bus is located at Edwards Air Force Base, CA so viewing will have to be arranged. I can bring the bus off base to be viewed.

The bus can not be registered in California unless the engine is replaced for a 2010 or newer engine due to a new law brought in because the GVWR is over 14000lbs. It needs to go out of state ideally but being a California bus the underside is in very good condition.

The bus is on California plates and is currently on non op but only due to the registration.

Gutted to be selling it as we were really looking forward to transforming this quirky bus in to a home on wheels but with busy schedules we just haven’t had time

The chains hanging at the rear are snow chains that drop down when a lever is pulled in the cab.

It had 2 new rear tires and a new battery not long before we bought it.

The only known faults are that the fuel gauge and temperature gauge don’t work but it didn’t get hot when we took it to storage, topped up with diesel before driving and it was fine, We drove it approx 70 miles to storage at about 60-65mph the whole way and it drove lovely, we stopped half way just to check everything over and all was ok so we continued. I’m confident it will be a great bus for someone.
