Meet Penelope.

She has been our friend, home, and dream. She has taken us from the beaches of California through the mountains of the PNW to the deserts the prairies the south and to the Atlantic Ocean. She has been a happy home for us and our two amazing kids. She took 10 years of wishing, 18 months of building, and so much love. We are truly sad to be selling her but we never intended to live in her forever. As one dream comes to an end it is time for us to follow the next dream.

My husband and I have building knowledge and put it to use renovating our first home then building out Penelope with the help of our 4 year old. : )

We are asking for exactly what we put in it and are not interested in making a profit. Please read the full listing. We are looking for the perfect people to start their adventure and take care of Penelope. She is truly special and we have put so many details to make life comfortable, safe, and convenient. Buses in nature are most comfortable in outside temperatures of 78 degrees F or below. As her roof is covered in solar panels it is required to be under full sun to live with the conveniences of electricity but more on that later.

Here are her details:

  • 37.5’ 2002 Bluebird TC2000 front engine bus

  • There are many emergency shutoff switches all located next to each other under the primary bed. If the electrical system is being accessed please disconnect or turn off all red switches, wait 15 minutes, then do what you want to do. We purchased our electrical kit from AM Solar and I wired myself. As any skoolie builder will tell you, when you first turn on a light in your skoolie, it’s pretty incredible.
  • Safety is very important to us. All electrical wiring is properly covered and grounded and away from little hands.
  • As there are stairs at the front door and we have small children we built a removable floating floor above the stairs. It’s pretty awesome and a great area for reading, people watching, and extra play space.
  • Straps safely secure bedroom doors when driving, fridge, and washer/dryer
  • Kitchen cabinets are childproofed, pantry is secured with slide bolt locks, and fridge has locking feature
  • Multiple detectors: propane under sink and next to water heater, co2 in bedroom and smoke alarm in kitchen

Full disclosure:

We took Penelope in for a service by a licensed mechanic, and had a complete inspection done in end of November early December. Her tires and breaks are in excellent condition. A computer chip was out and was replaced. There was a small leak above the head gasket. We paid to have the top of the engine removed, leak repaired, head gasket tightened and she was put back together and running happy as ever. As stated earlier, safety is incredibly important to us and we want her to run for decades to come. We have all paperwork for complete transparency and comfort.

Just a side note, this bus has never been smoked in nor have there been any pets.

We look forward to meeting the best people/family to take Penelope on her next adventure.

Best,

Annette and Mark
