I bought this renovated school bus last year and don’t have the means to travel in it how I intended, so please come take it and put the work into that it needs. It is a DIY project that had a lot of love put into it; the interior is beautiful and it’s super eye-catching from the outside, but the engine needs maintenance that I don’t have the resources to take care of. I am willing to part with it as is for a quarter of the price I put into it. I have not taken it to a mechanic and don’t have an estimate for repairs- if you want the bus that part is up to you! 2001 Thomas freight liner diesel school bus (44 feet long)
5.9 L Cummins engine 12v
Allison transmission
approximately 245,000 miles (gauges are broken right now)
Custom skoolie conversion with lovely wooden features, kitchen (minus the fridge), shower, twin bed, couch, hammock, table, and wood burning stove to keep warm in the colder months!
Wooden deck attached to the back with back-up generator (gas powered)
Solar panel hook ups available (powers the water pump and stove igniter)
Hook-ups provided for external electric and water set up (25 gallon water tank attached to sink and shower)
New tires and break lines + pads installed last year
New batteries and solar set upThe story behind the engine problems is that the bus was recently taken through the Rocky mountains and the engine was put to the test. I am not sure what exactly is wrong, but it runs a lot slower and weaker than it did prior to traveling through the mountains, so it may need some boosters or a new engine all together. Again, this is something that I don’t know for sure, but the price has been significantly discounted to reflect those damages and potential costs. You could get this beautiful bus road-ready for less than $10k altogether, and then it could be your home and transportation all in one! It’s a really good deal for anyone in the area who is willing to put a bit of work it to get it running how it’s supposed to.Serious offers only please! (If you have already messaged about this, I’m sorry for the delay in response. I have not taken it to a mechanic but have reduced the price significantly, so if you are serious about the bus that is something you will have to do after you buy it. I don’t have any repair cost estimates, but the interior of the bus by itself is worth $5k so it would be worth it for serious buyers/travelers.)
